Romans

The book of Romans provides a comprehensive, scholarly explanation of the gospel as God's powerful plan for human righteousness, demonstrating that salvation is available by an obedient faith to both Jew and Gentile alike. Written to a culturally diverse church that lacked direct apostolic oversight, Paul provides deep scriptural and doctrinal foundations to establish, mature, and unite the believers in Rome.

What You'll Learn

Schrader Lane Church of Christ

Adult Bible Study

Students will explore how the gospel serves as God's unique power for salvation and His precise plan for human righteousness. The course demonstrates how this righteousness is achieved not through a legalistic system or earning merit by perfect works, but through an obedient faith rooted in God's matchless grace.

1. The Divine Plan for Righteousness

Participants will examine the transition from the old Mosaic system to the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus. The course clarifies that being under grace does not mean living without rules, but rather outlines our solemn obligation to walk according to the Spirit and serve as "servants of righteousness".

3. The Governing Factor of the Christian Life

Jon Pinkerton, Instructor

This study walks through the historical and doctrinal reality of sin, showing how both Jews and Gentiles were found guilty before God. Students will learn why a system of law alone could not justify humanity, and why the propitiatory sacrifice of Jesus Christ was absolutely necessary to deliver us from condemnation.

2. The Universal Need for Salvation

Beyond deep doctrinal theology, this study focuses heavily on transforming daily life. Students will learn the practical steps of Christian living, including developing a transformed mind, applying spiritual functions, respecting brethren in matters of indifference, and fostering true unity between diverse groups within the body of Christ.

4. Practical Application and Unity in Christ
