The writing's core purpose was to warn the audience against the willful abandonment of Christ (apostasy) by reverting to Judaism, urging them instead to maintain a steadfast, Christ-centered faith. Historically, the gospel took about ten years to spread beyond Jerusalem to places like Caesarea; later, around 30 years after the church began, it became increasingly difficult for Jewish Christians to coexist with Judaism, contributing to persecution under Nero. A significant issue addressed was the influence of "Judaizers"—Christians requiring converts to become Jews first by stressing circumcision. The lesson also defined the 'last days' as the final period of human existence, spanning from the establishment of the church until the Lord's return, following the antediluvian and post-diluvian eras. Finally, Hebrews 1:1-4 reveals that while God spoke in the past to the forefathers by prophets, in these last days He speaks to us through His Son, who is the radiance of God’s glory, is the heir and maker of the universe, and is spiritually superior to angels.
