IN THIS LESSON
When the Word Is Enough — Two Paths to Belief
Have you ever struggled to share your faith with those closest to you? In this lesson, we contrast two radically different responses to Jesus: the Samaritans who heard the Word and believed without spectacle, and the Galileans who saw the signs but struggled to honor the Prophet from their own backyard. We examine how familiarity breeds contempt — why a prophet has no honor in his own country and how that principle still challenges believers today. The royal official's desperate twenty-mile journey from Capernaum to Cana reveals what happens when status, resources, and reputation cannot save the ones we love. Jesus refuses to go in person; instead, He speaks a word from a distance, and the official takes Him at that word — demonstrating faith that grows from seeking a presence to trusting a promise. This lesson challenges each of us to answer the question Jesus posed to the Galilean crowd: Do we need signs and wonders, or is the Word of God enough?
